About Stephen Hamilton

Who is Stephen Hamilton? I am a Board Certified Criminal Defense Attorney who’s primary focus and specialization is in the defense of those who are charged with Driving While Intoxicated or other alcohol related traffic crimes. My practice is almost exclusively DWI defense. I realized long ago that DWI defense is not cookie cutter law. What will work for one client will not work for another. So, I take the time to spend working on each client’s case individually to try and find all available defenses.

It is essential that you have a qualified attorney working your case. Being Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization comes with some hefty requirements. Experience in the preparation and trial of serious criminal matters; an extensive knowledge of state and federal law; regularly attending legal trainings to keep up to date; evaluation by fellow attorneys and judges and passing a day-long written examination covering state and federal law. Of the 67,000 licensed attorneys in Texas, only 826 are Board Certified. In Lubbock County alone, there are only six attorneys that are Board Certified in Criminal Law, including one prosecutor. Selecting a Board Certified attorney instantly gives you a more qualified defense.
